Rumi was born in the 13th century as a Persian Sunni Muslim, apart from being an exceptional thinker and poet; he was also a jurist, scholar, theologian, and a Sufi musician. In short, he was a living example for – ‘A man of many talents’. Rumi's major work is the Maṭnawīye Ma'nawī, that is a six-volume poem. His other most notable work is Dīwān-e Kabīr or Dīwān-e Shams-e Tabrīzī. It has 35000 Persian couplets and 2000 Persian quatrains, 90 Ghazals and 19 quatrains in Arabic, a couple of dozens or so couplets in Turkish and 14 couplets in Greek. He also wrote many proses and some of the most proficient are: Fihi Ma Fihi, Majāles-e Sab'a, and Makatib.
