Earlier this year Alia Bhatt started a very great initiative ‘Mi Wardrobe is Su Wardrobe’. She started this initiative in association with a fashion service which gives all the fans around the world a chance to buy clothes from Alia’s wardrobe and the money collected through this will be used in charity.
This helped 40 families last week in Kikkeri in Madhya district of Karnataka through the Liter of Light Program run by a Bengaluru based organisation, AROHA. This organisation works towards helping economically backward communities who have little or no access to electricity. They do this by recycling plastic bottles to provide solar lamps.
Alia while talking to a leading daily about this project, said,
“So many families in India continue to live in darkness and Liter of Light’s eco-friendly solar lamps are an innovative and sustainable way to light up homes. They work with local communities, using locally sourced materials to assemble and install the lamps, thus empowering the community and improving the quality of life. The project in Kikkeri will benefit 200 lives and through Mi Wardrobe is Su Wardrobe we plan to work with many such organizations, creating a brighter future for many more.”
Alia has always been active in helping people and animal around the world. This isn’t her first initiative towards helping the people in need. She has also created a workspace called Coexist, which works towards creating awareness about ecological issue.
Great work Alia!
