After apologizing Tanushree Dutta for not taking any action on her sexual harassment complaint, Cine & TV Artists Association General Secretary Sushant Singh came down heavily on Bollywood heavyweights saying they don't receive any complaints against powerful names as complainants fear to lose work.
Tanushree Dutta is in news after accusing senior Bollywood actor Nana Patekar of accusing her sexually in 2008 during a shooting of a movie. She had filed a complaint with the Cine & TV Artists Association but no action was taken. According to Indian express, Sushant Singh said that committee also comprises of actors who probably face the same fears when dealing with a sexual harassment complaint against a powerful person. In the past, the committee has stood by the victim but the victim, under pressure, has withdrawn the complaint, leaving the committee members in the bad books of the powerful predator, said Sushant Singh.
He said Tanushree's sexual harassment complaint had been overlooked and the case had been closed, even though the committee in power than was different, we felt it is our duty as CINTAA to admit to the fault.
After Tanushree’s statement that she had complained to CINTAA and received no support, it was imperative for us to look into it. We went back to our old records and we realized that while CINTAA got the producers to settle the monetary damages Tanushree suffered, her chief complaint of sexual harassment had been overlooked.
